Priest denies ‘threat’; declines security
Fr. Sulpicio Vincoy of the St. Vincent Ferrer Chaplaincy in barangay Camanjac has denied receiving threats to his life, and has declined the offer of the Philippine National Police for security detail.
Dumaguete City Chief-of- Police Supt. Jonathan Pineda investigated the reported threats on the life of Father Vincoy, allegedly due to his stand against the proposed sanitary landfill in barangay Candau-ay.
The investigation was done
upon orders of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo “to establish the validity of the matter with the end view of protecting Father Vincoy’s person.” Supt. Pineda said they interviewed Father Vincoy three times, two times by Deputy Chief Senior Inspector Ian Paul Arapols. Father Vincoy denied directly receiving threats through phone calls, text messages, letters or other means. However, he learned from radio broadcaster Rex Cornelio that he received irate reactions from listeners threatening the

Teves youngest ABC president
Arnulfo Teves Jr. of the 3rd district of Negros Oriental, ran unopposed and garnered 22 out of the 25 possible votes in last Monday’s election. Teves is the punong barangay of Malabugas in Bayawan City, a post once held by his father, prior to becoming a member of the House of Representatives.
