Nature Summer Camp Weekend Feel like getting back to nature and doing it completely “au naturel?” CMEN, (California Men Enjoying Nature) is the perfect way to experience that very thing during their Summer Camp Weekend for Men fromFriday, August 31 to Sunday, September 9! Imagine this: A bevy of guys playing ping-pong at the outdoor ping- pong tables, guys playing bridge (cards) at picnic tables underneath big trees offering shade (you’re gonna want that shade, baby), or picture them (and yourself) floating on a raft in a heated Olympic-sized pool or taking a morning hike…“au naturel.” Add to that vision a variety of workshops/playshops and entertainment throughout the weekend and you have CMEN’s Summer Camp Weekend taking place in Malibu (specific location given upon registration)! All meals, accommodations (either tent or cabin) and entertainment are included at this naked event, and no, it’s not a “clothing optional” event and yes, that means naked as a jaybird at all times…though when it’s cold a hoodie or nice fluffy robe is acceptable. For tickets and more info, call 877.683.4781 or go to cmen.org.

Great Outdoors California Mount Pinos

McGill Campground Car Camp For those of you who love the out-of-doors but prefer camping with your clothing on, we have another great summer adventure! Put on by Great Outdoors, the largest not-for-profit, all-volunteer gay and lesbian organization dedicated to outdoor recreation in SoCal, with chapters in Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County/Long Beach, Santa Barbara and Palm Springs. FromFriday, August 3 through Sunday, August 5, the Los Angeles chapter is offering a chance to experience the Los Padres National Forest during their Mount Pinos McGill Campground Car Camp. This is tent camping only, so you’ll need a tent, ground cloth, sleeping bag, stove and fuel, cooking utensils, dishes and cutlery, folding chair, and a cooler with food. The facility has vault toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables, but you’ll need to bring all the water you’ll need because there is none at the campground. Arrive any time after 3 p.m. on Friday, with a meet and greet with snacks that evening. Dinner is on your own with campfire at sundown. Saturday offers an organized hike for which you’ll need hiking boots, a day-pack, water, “the ten essentials,” and a sack lunch. There’s a traditional tea in the afternoon and a Great Outdoors potluck dinner with campfire activities that evening. Sunday concludes with a breakfast on your own, with time to relax until checkout time at 2 p.m. Carpooling is highly recommended.
