Law-led professional services group Gateley plc has announced the promotion of a corporate lawyer in its Reading office. Jenni Ferguson (corporate) has been made associate and 38 promotions have been made nationally, spanning Gateley’s corporate, banking and finance, employment, pensions, real estate, residential development, construction, restructuring, commerce, technology and media, commercial dispute resolution and planning teams as well as Gateley’s property consultancy business, Gateley Hamer.


Top 20 accountancy firm MHA MacIntyre Hudson has appointed Gavin Davis as a partner to lead its newly created technology advisory services practice. With more than 35 years’ experience, both as a consultant and business owner, Davis will be advising clients across the country on how to manage their business IT systems and services. The technology advisory practice will provide services including IT reviews, strategic IT advice, application procurement support (specification and selection) and outsourced IT director services.


RARE has appointed Lewis Pearson as a surveyor based at its Thames Valley office at Green Park, Reading. Pearson, who recently graduated in land management from Oxford Brookes University, joins RARE to bolster the team’s Thames Valley agency team. Having grown up in Hermitage just outside Newbury, Pearson has gained experience in the office market having established his own business prior to joining RARE focusing on identifying and introducing off market PDR opportunities to developers.


Curve Workplaces , the Bracknell-based office fit-out contractor, has recently appointed Michael Potter as managing director. Curve have won a series of high profile instructions in the Thames Valley in 2018.


Whitley Stimpson, one of the largest independent accountancy practices and business advisers in the area, has announced the appointment of Nigel Benton who joins the company’s Witney office. Benton, who has moved from Grant Thornton in Oxford, joins the firm as senior manager assisting clients to meet their regulatory and compliance business accountancy requirements. He will be working with owner- managed businesses and larger management led businesses across Oxfordshire and the south.


Two experienced forensic accounting and expert witness partners have joined business advisory and corporate recovery firm Quantuma. Gavin Pearson and Gordon Hodgen have joined Quantuma’s fast- expanding London office with a team of five as the firm adds a new service line to its offering. Quantuma managing partner Carl Jackson said: “Forensic accounting requires a specific skillset and the arrival of Gavin and Gordon and their five colleagues gives us a major boost in this area. Their skills will complement the investigations work of partner Mike Wright.


Vail Williams’ building consultancy team in Reading has expanded its expertise with the appointment of new partner Matthew Beech (centre). Bringing with him two decades worth of experience as a building surveyor, Beech will head up the building consultancy team at Vail Williams’ Reading office. Beech joins the commercial property adviser from Frankham Consultancy Group where he spent 10 years as an associate. He specialises in multi-disciplinary design and project delivery and contract administration. During his career, he has delivered projects ranging in size and complexity – from £50,000 to £5million – spanning a range of sectors including defence, education, leisure, civic, residential, healthcare and transport.
