President’s Column and Institute News

However, with all the nasties now being thrown into the burning pots, it has taken on a new dimension of frustration and confusion.

The most exciting news for our golfers is than in the council meeting, held on the 16th of March 2018, it was decided to host a golf day again this year. Many inquiries have been made by individuals, who surely must be keen golfers, as to what has happened to the Sheffield golf day. Dates still have to be confirmed, but the moment the course has been booked, our golfers will be notified.

The executive committee is also investigating alternative means of keeping the Institute relevant to its members. Many of us are still very much looking forward to the journal in the post, but it seems as if we are slowly getting extinct, and soon we may appear on the list of endangered species. Many younger members are joining, and it seems as if even some of the older members are changing their ways/habits.

The use of mobile phones as a means of getting and staying in touch has become more significant over the years. In an effort to upgrade our website and presence in the world of social media, it is important that we know the views of our members. Therefore, should you receive a request to participate in a survey from a company called “Survey Monkey”, please do not send it straight into the bin. This survey will unfortunately only reach the members with email addresses known to us. If you only got to know about this while reading my column, I certainly feel very privileged that I am still honoured by the veterans, but in some way you will need to inform the committee that the journal is still an important part of your life.

Till next time, when we should be closer to better weather!
