Within the Process Industries, most vessels have poor access and normally, manual methods are employed to remove the vessel linings.


For the project illustrated here, GNAT UK was tasked with developing an innovative solution to remotely demolish and remove a lining from within a large vessel that had initially proved impossible.


GNAT’s engineers resolved the task with a design and build solution necessitating the fabrication of a Remote Operated Manipulator System which allowed the deconstruction of the vessel linings of the roof section and the walls and base from within.


We were proud to successfully complete this task with our innovative solution, which eliminated the use of conventional machines and enabled us to safely break out the roof lining and refractory walls.


When every hour of outage time means loss of profitable production this method has proved itself worth its weight in Gold!!
