Nigel Fewings, decided to raise money when he was walking part of the Camino de Santiago
(a friend and long
distance pilgrimage route) in Northern Spain. He was walking with someone whose life had been devastated by the loss of a partner from an aggressive Brain Tumour. She had raised thousands of pounds for the charity Brain Tumour Research.
Nigel was very sad that so many young people and children lose their lives in this country yet only 1% of NHS funding for cancer research goes to research into brain tumours. Brain tumours
are the biggest cause of
death from any cancer in the under 40 age group.
This devastating disease
affects so many people and their families and improved treatments are urgently needed.
Nigel wanted to help and also wanted to do something a little out of his comfort zone and get fitter.
Nigel is fortunate in being able to do this and joined the local running club - ‘Just Jog Bideford’. With the support of the club and his new running friends he can now run 5k and is looking forward to the next training sessions of 5-10k.
He is determined to complete both the Bideford and Manchester 10K to raise money for this very deserving cause.
He has also been supported by his 10 When responding to adverts please mention the ‘North Devon Insight’ Foot Care Practitioner
David Burgess of Raphael, Bideford who has kept Nigel’s feet in tip top condition throughout his long distance walks and more recent runs.
Nigel will be running the Bideford 10k on 13th May and then only one week later on 20th May he will be running the Great Manchester Run 10k.
If you are able to help by sponsoring Nigel he would be very grateful. His Just Giving page is
