Plymouth family firm celebrates 30 years
In 1988, former dockyard worker Phil Hill started a family business Executive Cleaning Services, which will be celebrating its 30th birthday this year. When Executive Cleaning
Services (SW) Ltd started, the majority of its work was the restoration of properties that had been affected by fire and flood - plus a little bit of carpet cleaning. In 2001 Phil’s son Andi joined the business after leaving school. During 2005/6 insurance work
slowed down and, as an agile business, the focus changed to the cleaning of upholstery, carpets and stone flooring. In 2009 the business started to
clean more rugs than ever before and this is when Captain Rug Wash was born. Andi Hill said: “We pride ourselves
on the delivery of excellent service. All rugs are cleaned using the latest equipment and cleaning solutions and to ensure competency all staff have attended Woolsafe and Master Rug Cleaner training programmes and achieved qualifications through the NCCA (National Carpet Cleaners Association).”
Captain Rugwash has also been
recognised by the Trading Standards Buy With Confidence programme. It’s no mean feat to celebrate 30
years in business and Andi is proud of the family’s achievements. “Over the years, the family
business has experienced some high points and some low points, but we have always managed to hold together as a family and a business and push through the hard times to enjoy the good times,” he added.
