Foulgers Dairy

THERE has been a dairy farm at Falcon Lane in Bun- gay for many years. Previ- ously owned and run by the Cundy family, this dairy business has now been taken over by Foulger’s Dairy. After 100 years of supplying the local commu- nity with dairy products, the Cundy family decided that it was time to sell the dairy and concentrate on other business opportunities. Having worked with Cun- dy’s Dairy for many years it was the natural progres- sion for Foulger’s Dairy to purchase the business. A long-established business, Foulger’s Dairy is owned and run by Adrian Foulger who is the third generation. Adrian’s family have been

in farming for over 70 years when his grandfather started farming in his 20’s. There are similarities between

Foulgers and the business that they have just taken over. Both are farming fami- lies and share the same val- ues that are important to a small family business. Adrian is excited to have

taken on this successful family business. The team running the site in Bungay has remained the same; this is important as local knowl- edge is invaluable when working on milk delivery rounds. But, there is so much more to this business than simply delivering milk to the local area. Adrian first began work-

ing on his farm in 1978, and delivering milk in 1982 when there were four types of milk: full, semi-skimmed, skimmed, and gold top, before taking on the milk round side of the business in 1999. These days there is much more on offer from

your local supplier. Of course, the milk is still prominent but now the list of options includes: organic milk, soya, goats milk, raw milk, amongst others. There is also a whole range of asso- ciated dairy products such as butter, yoghurt, cheese and cream. In addition to this there are other grocery goods like meats, oils, fruit and vegetables, juices, baked goods, jam, honey, eggs, wood, coal, and lots of other household products. You see, a milk delivery is now so much more than just that. Adrian knows the impor-

tance of delivering quality produce. Providence is key and so he makes sure that where possible, he uses local producers and suppliers. This quality is matched by the high level of customer service. The delivery drivers are familiar with the area they work and their regular customers, and often the milk delivery might be the only time a housebound per- son sees someone for that whole day – there is a sense of community that is not prominent in many other

industries. Despite offering such a

large variety of stock, Foulg- ers will deliver anything from a single pint of milk. Of course, with both domes- tic and commercial custom- ers, many of their deliveries are considerably larger than that, in fact, they have cli- ents that take up to 150 pints a day! An important point to note

is that Foulgers can deliver in glass bottles. There is a growing move back to glass as we become more aware of the positive environmental impact this has. Simply leave your empties on the doorstep and they will be taken away to be re-used. It is lovely to see this long-

established business still running and thriving under new ownership. Adrian and the team at Foulgers look forward to working with customers old and new from the site in Bungay. If you have any queries or would like to place an order, please contact the team on cund- ys@foulgersdairy.co.uk or call 01986 892428.
