Her work onFinding Neverland andMary Poppins distinguished both of those shows with her natural grace and joy. She will be an exquisite Anna Leonow- ens.” The King And I boasts a score that features beloved classics such as “Hello Young Lovers,” “Shall We Dance,” “I Have Dreamed,” “Some- thing Wonderful” and of course “Getting To Know You.” Performances take placeTuesday, February 27 through Sunday, March 11 at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa. Eddie Izzard in his new showEddie Izzard: Believe Me TouronThursday, February 22. In it, the beloved British actor and comedian performs a bit of stand-up, shares personal photos, discusses his personal and professional life, reads from his recently publishedNew York Times best selling memoir and answers questions from the audience. Writing with the same candor and insight evident in his comedy,Believe Me: A Memoir of Love, Death, and Jazz Chickens reflects on a childhood marked by the loss of his mother, boarding school and alternative sexuality, as well as a life in comedy, film, politics, running and philanthropy. Over the course of a 33- year career, Eddie Izzard has proven himself to be a creative chameleon, inhabiting the stage, film and television with an unbelievable fervor. As a stand-up comedian, Izzard has captivated audiences with his surreal, stream- of-consciousness comedy lines which have the status of great rock: Cake or Death? Death Star Canteen, and Do You Have a Flag? As a self-proclaimed “action transvestite,” Izzard broke a mold performing in makeup and heels and has become as famous for his “total clothing” rights as he has for his art. With his brand of keenly intelligent humor that ranges from world history to historical politics, sexual politics, mad ancient kings and chickens with guns, he has built an extraordinary fan base that transcends age, gender and race.
