Surgery ‘model for patient care’

A GP surgery in Maidstone has been held up as a model of out- standing care. In a report fromtheCareQuality

Commission (CQC), the hard work, dedication of staff and inte- gration of services at Sutton Va- lence Surgery were praised for “making a real difference for pa- tients”. The South Lane practice earned

special mention for having clearly defined and embedded systems to minimise patient risk and for its re- sponse to the needs of the elderly and travelling community. Support services for elderly pa-

tients living alone, such aswalking and cycling groups, have helped reduce social isolation. A weekly home delivery service ofmedicines to the house-bound, sometimes in- volving a GP,was also praised. The inspector also noted that ap-
