JINGLE BELL JAUNT
JOLLY GOOD FUN The North American Trail
Ride Conference Jingle Bell Jaunt Competitive Trail Ride held Dec. 2-3 at Parrie Haynes Equestrian Center in Killeen, Texas proved to be more fun than rocking around the Christ- mas tree for dozens of horse and rider teams that enjoyed picture-perfect weather. “We were thrilled with the conditions of the trails,” said Marjorie
Shenkir, ride manager and Trailmaster for the Jaunt. “We had many first- time competitors who had ideal conditions in which to show off the part- nership between themselves and their mounts.” The judges for the two-day event, with a one-day option, were Kay
Gunckel, DVM from Colorado, and Priscilla Lindsay of Nebraska. Com- petitors were asked to cross the Llano River, traverse steep and rocky in- clines, and negotiate around cedar breaks as part of the judging. Kris Hapgood of Edmond, OK and her horse Wish Upon A Star fin-
ished first overall in the Open Division and Deanne Prusak of Magnolia, TX and her horse TA Kaiser received the highest combination scores in the Competitive Pleasure Division. David Spell and KMA Ali Gator received High Point First Time Competitor honors. w
