Greater Houston QHA’s 2017 awards
banquet for its Open/PAC Horse Show Series was held December 7 at Magnolia’s Hickory Corral. HP champions were Kenede Wagner (13&U/Zips Midnight Dude), Sophia Smith (14-18/Face It Im Famous), and Kathy Lee (19&O/Terrific Lee Hot), while walk-trot divi- sion HP winners included Kayden Johnson (13&U/Lenas Easter Jubilee), Sarah Tisdel (14- 18/This Chics A Winner), and Lana Johnston (19&O/Toby). Year-end champion mare was Supernatural Image, shown by Sandy Sullivan, and Lana Johnston’s Toby was year-end cham- pion gelding. Texas QHA’s AQHA Introductory and
Open Showswere held December 8-9 at Bra- zos County Expo in Bryan. AQHA novice HP champions were Layla Clark (Zip Outta Town/Youth) and Julie Bass (All The Above/Amateur), and Open Show HPs went to Taylor Smith (Lopinin Chocolate/Youth) and Candice White (Amateur).
NM Palomino HA, NM Paint Horse
Club, and NM Pinto HA held their 2017 awards banquets together December 9, at Posse Café in Belen. Members of all 3 brought and donated food totaling over 100 pounds to donate to Roadrunner Food Bank.

HP year-end champions included Yvonne Saavedra (NMSU Love Me Tender/Nov-Y & 13&U), Mariah Montoya (Zippos Lacy Pine/14-18), Sharon (Sure To Skip/Am-WT), and Berniece Zielke (Ab- solutely Blonde/Am & Who Invited Her/Am- Pal-bred). Who Invited Her, owned by Ron Morris, was HP in Palomino-bred and Palo- mino-bred Jr Horse, and DiRusso and Mon- toya’s Zippo Lacy Pine was HP Jr Horse. Berniece Zielke and Absolutely Blonde also re- ceived a participation award.
