closest of the entire show. Winning off a tie-breaker was Marialyssa McDavid and Top Stoppin Dun It of Weatherford, TX. The team tied with VRH youth re- serve world champions Jordan Cheek and KMZ Irish Cowboy in their overall score, but a cattle-class tie breaker gave the win to McDavid. Top Stoppin Dun It is a 2004 son of Big Steppin Dun owned by James McDa- vid. The gelding was bred by Mike Erwin of Lockesburg, AR, and is out of the Top- sail Cody mare Topsails Peppy. This is his fifth SHTX champion title. Earlier this year, he was Top 10 in the youth limited division at the Zoetis VRH World, and he has more than $3,500 in NRHA earnings. Stock Horse Futurity The Stock Horse of Texas futurity has proven itself a good predictor of future stars, and it’s a good possibility that this year offered one, too. The Futurity and Der- by together paid out $25,400 to contestants. Mike Major won the Futurity with royally bred homebred Automatic Stik. They earned $2,163 plus prizes for the win.
