PG&E Offers Customers No-Cost Assistance in Hauling Away Wood in Wildfire-Impacted Counties

SAN FRANCISCO, CA. ~ In an effort to support communi- ties recovering from the Octo- ber 2017 Northern California wildfi res, Pacifi c Gas and Elec- tric Company (PG&E) is offer- ing its customers assistance in cutting down and hauling away larger wood from their prop- erty at no cost. Customers can now request wood removal for qualifying hazard trees PG&E cuts down near its power lines to help ensure public safety and protect its electric and gas in- frastructure. This is an opt-in program and customers’ trees must qualify for the service. PG&E expects to cut down as many as 25,000 hazard trees in the fi re-impact- ed areas throughout its service area. “Safety is our top prior-

ity for everyone at PG&E ev- ery day, and that’s why we’re working to remove hazard trees around our power lines. We know that the wood will pile up, increasing the fuel around homeowners’ properties. This no-cost assistance is one of the ways we are helping our com- munities recover as quickly as possible,” said Kevin Dasso, PG&E vice president of asset management.

Customers who would like to

opt-in can call 1-800-743-5000 to schedule an inspection. Ad- ditional information? Contact Deanna

The BEER BOYS They all looked

great and I will need to plan a trip just to explore those. Our bartender Austin Jay set

us up with a couple of fl ights samplers to try. Our fi rst fl ight contained berskull,

Clob- Old

Baba Yaga, Tar- tare Berliner, and Tartare Rouge. The Clob-

berskull was an English estate ale with a 10.5% ABV and 35 IBU. ABV is the alco- hol percentage and IBU stands for International Bittering Units that measures the bitterness pulled from the hops. Old Baba Yaga is a Rus- sian Imperial Stout that stands on its own with a 13% ABV and 115 IBU. Just reading the ABV and IBUs will give you a good idea of what to expect from the beer. The higher the ABV the sweater and malty the beer. The higher the IBU the more bitter the beer. Fine tun-

ing that malt and bitter is the craft the sets the brews apart. Sour beers are the latest trend in the beer world. Bear Republic is not behind on that trend. We tried two of the sours, Tartare

and

Tartare Rouge. These beers are spontaneously fermented

with

wild yeast bac- teria. Sour beers have tart

and

tangy character with a hint of grapefruit. They are usually low in IBUs and al- cohol can range

from a low 4% to 10%. Sour beers improve with age and take a long time from start to fi nish.

Whether planning a holiday party or group get together or just and after work break, Bear Republic should be on your short list. Lots of variety and local charm. Save the Ales!

auto-pilot and not con- sider change, I was betraying my true self. Yet once I began to place my Taoist beliefs back into real time, I began to realize the powerful beauty of change. Now I look into the distance with my hopes and dreams still intact. I am no longer a pris- oner to my own laziness and myopia.

And each one of us in the

kingdom of golf is called by our higher power to access that spirit of change. When the spir- it of change crashes through the forms we have grown ac- customed to, alchemy happens. Transformation happens as the lead of our sorrows soon turns into the gold of our joys. Crea- tures of habit no more we be- come empowered to imagine a greener earth and a better way.
