Sonoma County, CA. ~ We humans are creatures of habit, plain and simple. Even when things don’t work we often fi nd ourselves completely be- reft of options and we persist down the same worn out path. Change might be in order but most of us resist that change. Having been the poster child myself in that department I have been given a wake-up call recently from my boss; “Hey buddy, why don’t you try left- hand low, it might be your best bet at this point.”
Don is not only my boss, he is a friend. The other day while
watching me putting on our practice green in the Golf Mart, he noticed something. “You are stabbing at your putts and coming up and out too soon. Anything would be better than what you’re doing now.” Of course he was right and he’s seen enough of my game over the last few years to know my strengths and weaknesses. Put- ting has been my weak link and like a lot of humans I’ve been slow to change. Well when I took his advice and made an adjustment to a left-hand
low putting style, something amazing began to
take place. I noticed I was no longer stabbing or jabbing my putts. The feeling of fl ow had begun to return to my stroke. I could actually feel the force
fl owing again. Suddenly there was a ray of light shimmering at the end of the tunnel. The putts were dropping in one af- ter another and the pace was perfect. I was actually allow- ing my left hand to be the lead hand and my right hand under- stood itself to be the trail hand. A light bulb went off and my future was no longer trapped in a dark, dankdungeon of putting horrors. As a professional golf in- structor it has been easy for me ... continued on back page
