help raise £6,000 MORE THAN £6,000 was raised for the Royal British Legion from the sale of poppies in Snodland. Richard Szwed of Birling Road,
who is passionate aboutWWI and has spent years researching and collectingmemorabilia and visiting old battlefields, is pictured selling a poppy to Claire Crossfield of Halling, outside the Co-op in the High Street. He was featured on BBC Lon-
don News in 2009 and sells pop- pies every year outside the Co-op – and this year he collected al- most £1,600. Sandra Biddiss, who co-ordi-
nates the PoppyAppeal on behalf of Ham Hill and Snodland WI, said: “I’d like to thank Richard, the shopkeepers and everyone else who sold poppies in the town.”
