As with many products, the price of rigging equipment can vary depending on where you buy, exactly what you buy, how much you buy, and how quickly you need it delivered. ON THE COVER: Statoil’s Hywind Scotland project – the world’s first floating offshore wind farm: The semi-submersible crane vessel Saipem 7000 lifts one of the five pre-assembled Siemens 6MW turbines and transports it to the floating foundation off Stord on the west coast of Norway prior to being towed to the project site at Peterhead, North East Scotland. An online video shows the whole mating operation, search YouTube for “Statoil Hywind Mating” to see it. All five turbines are now in place off the Scottish coast.
