equal donation of demolition and construction tools to be used by its mobile relief efforts in communities impacted by Hurricane Irma. “After natural disasters, we send a semi-trailer of tools and equipment to affected areas. Once on the ground, we spend weeks partnering with local qualified nonprofits and their volunteers,” said ToolBank USA CEO Alan Harrison. “The need in Florida is huge, and this donation will allow us to assist people and communities we might otherwise not reach, but who need help now. We are grateful for Apex Tool Group’s assistance.” Additionally, on September 1, Apex Tool Group opened the doors
to its 350,000 square foot currently unused warehouse in Garland, Texas, allowing disaster services nonprofit Trusted World to take over the facility for a herculean “sort, store, stage and ship effort for Hurricane Harvey victims,” said Michael Garrett, CEO, Trusted World. “Apex Tool Group donated the use of its space and utilities to give Trusted World one of the largest disaster staging sites in our history, now bustling with hundreds of Dallas-Fort Worth volunteers managing deliveries, inventory, and shipments bound for areas directly hit by Hurricane Harvey.” Learn more about each of these organizations at www.

CIC Adds Tower Crane Operator Certification
> Crane Institute Certification (CIC) has announced that a new certification for tower crane operators is now available. One certification covers self-erecting, fixed jib, and luffing boom tower cranes. Tower crane operator candidates will pass a written and a practical exam to earn the certification. “Although we have been certifying mobile crane operators for a
decade, one of the most frequent requests we heard over the last few years was for a tower crane operator certification,” CIC president Jim Headley said. “We are proud to offer CIC’s higher level of certification for the three types of tower cranes.” CIC’s OSHA-recognized, NCCA-accredited certifications for crane
operators include telescoping boom cranes (fixed or rotating cab) under 21 tons, 21 to 75 tons, and over 75 tons; lattice boom cranes (crawler or carrier mounted); articulating boom cranes; service/mechanic truck cranes; and precast concrete delivery cranes. The organization also offers accredited certifications for rigger/signalpersons (one certification combines levels I and II) and master riggers. Crane Institute of America Certification, LLC (CIC) is an
independent certifying organization providing OSHA-recognized, NCCA-accredited crane operator, rigger and signalperson certifications. CIC certifications meet or exceed current and pending OSHA requirements for certification of crane operators by type and capacity and rigger/signalperson qualification by examination.
