SAN DIEGO: HARVEST HOWL The Metro Area Real Estate Professionals for Young Adult Housing (MARYAH) and The San Diego LGBT Com- munity Center invite you to join them as they look to fight homelessness by scaring up much needed funds for their anything-but-scary, lifesaving Youth Housing Project. The 12th Annual Harvest Howl has taken up new digs themselves this year, taking residence inside Balboa Park’s beautiful Museum of Man onThursday, October 26, from 6 to 9 p.m. Promising to be even more “Spook-Tacular for 2017, enjoy live entertainment and tasting stations from wonderful local restaurants and a hosted bar during this Halloween-themed celebration! As they say, “It is better to give than to receive…” though in a blood-sucking sense, we’re not sure we agree! And remember what they say about not offering up treats to help those in need…That nasty All Hallows’ Eve trick may befall you when you least expect it! This year’s signature event promises to be bigger and better and is one that participants wait the year long to attend. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to maryah.org.

TERROR’S TRIPLE THREAT:

The Haunted Hotel Tired and looking for a place to rest your weary

head? Be careful…Remember what happened to Janet Leigh when she checked in to the Bates Motel? San Diego’s own hotel of horror is the longest running fright fest in San Diego, dubbed The Haunted Hotel, in downtown’s Gaslamp Quarter, was featured on The Travel Channel’s showAmerica’s Scariest Haunts and named number two of the top 13 haunts in the U.S. Our “hotel from hell” runsthrough Tuesday, October 31, offering plenty of opportunities to endure the horror of your most frightful dreams. Try to keep your head attached, there are some hungry zombies afoot, watch your step aboard the Hellevator, it might be the last plunge you take. Ride a little closer to insanity on the Clown Subway and just try to escape the torturous trials of the Hillbilly Swamp! Not scary enough…Then try attending their “Lights Out” Wednesdays for that extra bit of scare! For tickets and more, go to hauntedhotel.com.

NIGHTMARE ON NORMAL STREET We love Normal Street because it’s such an ironic name for an avenue smack dab in the middle of San Diego’s gayborhood! Any day in Hillcrest can be pretty ab-normal at times, and when it’s not filled with vampires, werewolves, zombies and the occasional axe-wielding psychopaths for Halloween, well, that just makes it exceptionally weird. All things being relative, it’s time to get your adrenaline flowing, as you don your most creative costume concoction and join the abi-Normal Street revelers onSaturday, October 28 for this celebration of all things bizarre. This year’s party features anAmerican Idol format costume competition with local celebrity guest judges and prizes and includes a fab grand prize for the “best” costume! Proceeds from this annual scare-fest benefit the more than 40 community programs at The San Diego LGBT Center. So, pry open that dusty wallet and make some cash “rise from the dead” for our great LGBT Center. For tickets and more information, call 619.692.2077 or go to fabuloushillcrest.com.

The Haunted Trail Located at the corner of Balboa Drive & Juniper inside the world-famous Balboa Park, The Haunted Trail is San Diego’s only out-of-doors haunted attraction. Guaranteed to be your most horrifying, most frightening and maybe your final, “walk in the park,” this mile-long after dark stroll offers bewitched canyons, twisted pines and gnarled oaks, terror-filled mazes with fear icons like Penny-Wise, the Dancing Clown, Freddy, Jason and Michael Myers. Scream in panic with An- nabelle and the Nun who “inhabit” the possessed farm house, or Krampus and his snowmen as they terror the trail…And back by frightful demand, the Stranger Things house and upside-down world return and if that’s not enough, just try to survive “The eXperiment’s” twisted maze! Ever been stalked before? Mwhaaaahhhahahahah! For tickets and more, go to hauntedtrail.net.

The Scream Zone Welcome to your nightmare...The Scream Zone

featuring 24 days of terror, is back at the Del Mar Fairgrounds for its annual haunted horror-fest through Tuesday, October 31. Take the Haunted Hayride, Del Mar’s zombie joyride that’s just dying to relieve you of a few body parts and compete with flesh-eaters-in-training during The Running Dead where you’ll ponder the nature of survival vs. death, “Can I survive the zombie apocalypse or just become a wandering corpse?” Join your fellowRage Monthly readers for a gay fright night you won’t forget:Out at The Scream ZoneonThursday, October 19! MONSTER BASH Eat, drink and get scary! Ever wonder if “straight” flesh and grey matter tastes any different from your regular diet of gay?
