LIVE24SEVEN // Business QS DAVISONS - LEGAL ADVICE Divorce – your choices W
Marriage is a choice and a lot of planning and preparation goes into the wedding day. There are numerous places to go to for advice on how to plan the perfect day; which venue to hold it in, what dress to wear, cake testing amongst but a few. But what happens when it all goes wrong?
When a relationship enters the storm, or gets lost in the desert, there isn’t always a choice. Your partner may have decided the inevitable and left you stranded seemingly without any choice in the matter. It may have been you that decided to take the leap and leave behind the ties of marriage, or for the minority it was a mutual decision.
Whichever category you fall into there will inevitably be concerns:
• Where will I live?
• What financial support will I have; alternatively what financial support will I have to provide?
• What about the children, where will they live? Will I see them? How will
our divorce affect them? Is it the right time or should I wait until they are older?
• How will I manage in retirement? • Will I have to go back to work?
• How can I stop the mental or physical abuse?
• Perhaps, most importantly, who do I go to for help?
Unlike the wedding when family and friends are happy to plan and help, they can often be at a loss how to help you overcome your emotional needs and financial concerns.
This is the time when you need to receive sound legal advice about your circumstances; it may be daunting as it
