Rockit ready for launch
Bristol-based N2M Ltd are counting down to launch their rocket-shaped pram and pushchair rocker at Europe’s largest nursery trade show in September. The team behind the Rockit have spent nearly
three years working on the project and have had funding and support from Innovate UK and the Design Council to help get the product market-ready. Dr. Nick Webb, the inventor of the Rockit, said: “I
designed the first prototype when my daughter Abby refused to sleep in her pushchair unless it was moving. After much development, the Rockit was born. With a gentle rocking motion, much the same as a mum or dad rocking the buggy by hand, the movement helps to soothe the baby.”
Limber up for challenge run
Over 200 runners from 15 teams have already entered the Arcadis Business Challenge at the Simplyhealth Great Bristol Half Marathon, representing a range of businesses from media outlets to accountancy and engineering firms. The initiative, which is sponsored by UK Superbrand Arcadis, aims to bring together the city’s thriving business community and is open to small, medium and large organisations who would like to take on the Simplyhealth Great Bristol Half Marathon as a team on Sunday 17 September. Teams can be any size, and either all male, all
female or mixed; winners are picked based on the four fastest collective times by participants. Trophies are handed out to winning businesses
and any company that enters 12 or more employees will receive its own engraved plaque in the name of the fastest runner in the team.
Arcadis city executive for Bristol, Richard Bonner,
said: “Bristol is a thriving place to be and we are proud to be working with local authority groups and businesses to make the city a healthier, happier place to live and do business. “This year Bristol is one of seven cities to be awarded the annual title of European City of Sport and we’re looking forward to playing our part to support sport in the city by encouraging businesses to get involved with the Arcadis Business Challenge.”

Matt Sparrow, one of the Rockit co-designers, said:
“We’ve been amazed by the reaction since revealing the Rockit in March 2016. Shortly afterwards, we were awarded a share of £200,000 by the Design Council as part of their Spark product innovation fund and accelerator programme. This enabled us to fund the manufacture and we now can’t wait to see it launched at the Kind + Jugend Nursery Show in Germany.” Rockit co-designer Matt Dyson concludes, “As well
as the Design Council Spark Award, we have picked up a Baby Products Association Award and have been nominated for a prestigious Kind + Jugend Innovation Award. This alongside the trade show launch gives us a fantastic opportunity to showcase the Rockit Internationally.”
