The selection of fall movies reminds us that with the changing of the seasons, there comes a difference in the fare from which we have to choose. While there are sure to be more superhero epics and a new chapter “From a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…” told, there will also be more hard-hitting stories to populate your favorite Cineplex. Goodness, there’s even a gay romance heading to the big screen under

the guise of,Call Me by Your Name and—#trendalert—at least four movies with the word “wonder” in the title.

Let’s have a look at which movies will give you more “bang for your buck” and which ones will be “tacky as glue” or as gauche as wearing white after Labor Day.

REEL PEOPLE Battle of the Sexes recreates the

epic ’70s tennis match between tennis champ and lesbian, Billie Jean King (Emma Stone) and chauvinist Bobby Riggs (Steve Carrell). So, I take it that unlike the song, Billie Jean was not his lover. (September 22) Marshallis the story of Thurgood

Marshall (Chadwick Boseman), the young attorney during the 1940s and 1950s, who would eventually become the first African American Supreme Court Justice. (October 13) Professor Marston and the

Wonder Women showcases the origins of comic character, Wonder Woman, her creator Dr. William Marston (Luke Evans), as well as his polyamorous relationship with wife Elizabeth (Rebecca Hall) and a former student (Bella Heathcote). (October 27) Goodbye Christopher Robin

chronicles A.A. Milne’s (Domhnall Gleeson) creation of “all stuffed with fluff,”Winnie-The-Pooh. No word if it explores why Winnie donned only a shirt and no pants. Oh brother! (October 13)

Molly’s Game…Is also her down-

fall. Young Olympian-class skier, Jessica Chastain, runs the world’s most elite, high-stakes poker game for a decade, before getting busted. Spoiler!(November 22) The Disaster Artist is “art

imitating life, imitating art.” James Franco directs and also stars as Tommy Wiseau, the man behind “the best worst movie ever made” AKAThe Room. (December 8) The Greatest Showman, is another musical that probably won’t dispel any of those “Is Hugh Jackman gay?” rumors. He headlines as P.T. Barnum, otherwise known as the man who created the circus… “Lions, tigers and bears, oh my!” (December 25)

I’LL TAKE FRANCHISES FOR $200 Kingsmen: The Golden CircleIf

it is as visually stunning and action packed as the first installment, then audiences are in for another treat. This time around the British spies, including Colin Firth, head to Ameri- can and cross paths with American agents, including Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore and Halle Berry.(September 22) Blade Runner 2049 is set 30 years

after the original and has a new blade runner (Ryan Gosling), who unearths a deadly secret and must track down Deckard (Harrison Ford) and enlist his help. (October 6) Thor: Ragnarok (Bless you!) is

the third cinematic outing for the Marvel superhero. When the Norse God Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is imprisoned on the other end of the galaxy, he faces off with The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo and his CGI green counterpart) in a gladiator-style battle. Complicating matters is Hela (Cate Blanchett) and may I say her badass headdress, as she plans on destroying Thor’s home word of Assguard…err, Asgard. (November 3) Justice League assembles

Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Batman (Ben Affleck) as they unite to combat the villainous Steppenwolf. The dynamic duo also enlist Aqua- man (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) in their endeavor. Unfortunately, Jesse Eisenberg returns as Lex Luthor, after his annoying portrayal of the super villain inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He totally sucked… and not in a good way! (November 17)

Star Wars: The Last Jediis the

8th installment in the uber-popular space saga. Now that Rey (Daisy Ridley) has found Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), she discovers she’s in for a bit more of a struggle as she tries to enlist his help, since he feels it is time for the Jedi to end. Poe (Oscar Isaac) forms a bond with General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher, sadly in her last film role), who sees him as a surrogate son. Her flesh-and-blood son, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), has taken further steps towards the Dark Side and Finn (John Boyega) considers leaving The Resistance behind.(December 15)

There you go…Now you have countless hours to be spent in the dark watch-

ing stories unfold on the silver screen. Which ones will go down as cinematic classics and which ones will score low on the Rotten Tomatoes meter? Only time will tell. Happy viewing!
