DOUBLE TROUBLE in second and MISS KYLIE in third.

Again, there were no entrants in Gaso-

line Classes A and B. In Class B there were two boats on the line and WHISKEY GIRL was looking to repeat her winning ways from Long Island. Her competition was Jeff Craft’s TILLY, but she just did not have enough to keep up with WHISKEY GIRL. BLACK DIAMOND was the only in Class C she so ran down with the two racers in Class D, LYNN MARIE and Harry Fish’s BOONDOCKS. No one was surprised to see LYNN MARIE jog up the course for the win with BOONDOCKS second. Now came the Diesel Classes and in

Class A YANK N’ BANK was up against Scott Dyer’s RELENTLESS, but it was all YANK N’BANK. In Class B there was only one entrant, DOTTIE MAE. Class C had four boats on the line and in a close battle Bruce Hamlin’s RUTHLESS slipped into the lead for the win. Second went to Howard Tolman’s MISS MOLLY and third was GRASSHOPPER. There was a re- match in Class D between PULL N’PRAY and SIMPLE MAN, but this time SIMPLE MAN made sure she crossed the line for the win. Unfortunately Parker Poole’s DE- TERMINATION was in the wrong class at Long Island and was now in Class E and up against ISLA DAWN. It was a close race, but ISLA DAWN slowly got by for the win. It has been several years since we have seen Robert Johnson’s SUSAN MARIAH and he showed the others that he was the top boat this day in Class F. Second went to KARA- MEL with third being Cameron Murphy’s BLUE DOLPHIN II. Again there were no entrants in Class G, but there were three rac- ers on the line for Class H. PRETTY WOM- AN took the lead and did not give it up. Second went to Ben Perry’s MISTRESS and third was Tucker Johnston’s ULTRASEA. In Class I WILD ONE was not on the line so the only entrant was MISTY, which sailed up the course with Class J for the win. The surprise of the day was hearing that Heather Thompson’s GOLD DIGGER was coming down from Harrington on a truck. How would she fair against DANICA HAILEY, the winner at Long Island? As they came up the course that question was answered pretty quickly as GOLD DIGGER had the lead with DANICA HAILEY back about a boat

length. In Class K the results were the same with BLUE EYED GIRL fi rst, LA BELLA VITA second and Nick Page’s ALL OUT third. As the three racers in Class L came up the course MOTIVATION and WILD WILD WEST was in a real tight race right to the fi nish and at the line it was WILD WILD WEST. Third went to MISS KARLEE. OLD SCHOOL repeated his win in Class M(A) second going to SEA URCHIN. In Class M(B) SAND DOLLARS III got the win for the second day in a row over DOMINATOR. Since the Boothbay races we had not seen Andy Johnson’s WHISTLIN’ DIXIE, but he showed up for the last race of the year. His competition was JACALWA, but as she was the committee boat she opted to stay on the fi nish line giving WHISTLIN’ DIXIE the win.

In the Wooden Boat Race there were

two in A, which was won by GRASSHOP- PER with TILLY second. In B it was a battle between DELUSIONAL and SAND DOL- LARS III, which today was won by SAND DOLLARS III by about 10 feet. No one was surprised to see LYNN MA-

RIE get the win in the Gasoline Free-for-All with BLACK DIAMOND second. In the Diesel Free-for-All WILD WILD

WEST was not on the line. As the six racers came up the course MOTIVATION had the lead and went on for the win with BLUE EYED GIRL right on his stern. Third went to LA BELLA VITA. Now came the Fastest Lobster Boat Race, but we were not going to get the re-

match we were hoping for as WILD WILD WEST was not on the line again. LYNN MARIE streaked up the right side of the course, but there was a real battle for second between BLUE EYED GIRL and MOTIVA- TION as MOTIVATION neared the fi nish line she slowed and BLUE EYED GIRL got by for second. Following the race six tugboats took

to the race course and made two runs down the same course. The fi rst race went to AN- DREW MCALLISTER with a huge bow wake.

When the tugs were done racing many

of the lobster boat racers came in to Portland Yacht Service’s marina for a barbeque and the awards ceremony. Following the awards, we held an auction, followed by giving away 1500 gallons of diesel fuel. With everything all tallied the lobster boat racers donated more than $11,225.
