*** Looking to grow on last year’s successful joint Annual Meeting & Trade Show with the Maine Arborist Association, the meeting has been renamed and branded. Grow Maine Green Expo is the new name. You should have received your registration packet by now. If not, please contact the MELNA Office to get your packet to register and attend the January 20, 2016 Grow Maine Green Expo. You may also register via the MELNA website at www.melna.org.


*** MELNA has been awarded a grant for federal funds administered by the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry. Te $60,000 in grant funds will be used to help fund our new “Plant Something!” program. Tis will be a marketing program designed to educate the consuming public of the economic, environmental and health benefits of planting. Tis will help drive consumers to purchase MELNA members’ products and services. More detailed plans will be presented at the Grow Maine Green Expo on January 20 at the Augusta Civic Center. To see how you can participate and benefit from this $60,000 marketing program, you really need to be at the Grow Maine Green Expo.


*** Te Annual Meeting of MELNA will take place in the afternoon session of the Grow Maine Green Expo. By-Law changes and elections are on the agenda. We will also hear reports on the Plant Something program and the proposed new Maine Flower Show to be owned and produced by MELNA. A vote will be taken on the Maine Flower Show; that vote will be the final vote of the full membership to decide whether we

*** I am always looking for volunteers to help with the Grow Maine Green Expo. I need some volunteers the afternoon of the day before (Tuesday, January 19) to help with set-up and greeting our exhibitors. Ten several volunteers are needed throughout the day of the Expo, as well. If you would like to volunteer, please contact me at MngmtPlus@aol.com.


*** A reminder that all certified professionals will need to submit recertification paperwork by February 28. A mailing will be sent to all certified professionals shortly after the Grow Maine Green Expo. Te Re- Certification Workshop will be held on Wednesday, February 24 at Keeley’s Banquet Center in Portland.
