It’s not always quite as easy on a fishing trip out into the bay, but anglers of all abilities can find a trip to suit their needs by walking along the harbour.
Those that prefer to eat the fish rather than catch it are spoilt for choice as well.
Looe prides itself on the freshness of the fish sold in local restaurants, much of it straight off the boats.
The history of the port is told in the town’s museum and a heritage walk takes you to some of the lesser known corners.
There are modern traditions too – Looe is now famous as one of the country's must-go- to locations for a New Year's Eve party, its atmospheric
streets thronged with revellers in fancy dress.
And come the end of summer, top international stars like Bryan Ferry play the Looe Music Festival, based around the beach and a weekend of festival fun.
Keen walkers will want to explore further and the Tourist Information Centre is full of maps and books to help you on your way.
The South West Coast Path passes through the town with the five mile stretch west to Polperro a great favourite with most visitors.
Another popular walk is through Kilminorth Woods leading up river from the Millpool Carpark at West Looe.
Those who are happy to stay in
the town will find plenty of shops to browse in, or just sit and watch the world go by on the harbourside.
