Each one is a mini underwater world, populated by prawns, crabs, starfish and sea anemones.
Local groups run organised rock pool rambles throughout the year to help you identify what you might find.
Possibly the most popular pastime in Looe is crabbing from the quayside.
For generations families have dangled a piece of bait into the river with the certainty that when they bring it back up there will be at least one crab hanging on.
