Cotehele, St Dominick, Saltash: Adjoining the National Trust house, Cotehele gardens were laid out in the 19th Century, when many trees were planted. There is a formal Italian-style garden, a meadow garden and a deep valley which contains a series of adjoining ponds, trees and moisture loving plants. Tender shrubs thrive against the walls of the ancient house and there are many discoveries to be made in the beds, borders and orchards, the latter containing old Cornish varieties. of Cornwall, yet only 2 miles across the Tamar from Plymouth. It is a tranquil gem, approached down an avenue of lime trees and edged by the tidal river Lynher. Spectacularly a Spring garden with one of the best collections of magnolias and camellias in the country, its season extends through the Summer into excellent Autumn colour. It is an International Camellia Garden of Excellence and contains the National Collection of Camellia japonica.
Follow the path past a “Hansel and Gretel” cottage, through valleys, up craggy outcrops, by saltpans and a bathhouse. Discover hidden sculptures, beautiful wild flowers and an abundance of wildlife. It is also a treasure-trove for the keen plantsman with many wild source plants and excellent trees.

Originally the site of a 17th century water mill the nursery is set in a peaceful countryside setting, conveniently sited just outside of Bodmin, midway between Bodmin and Lanivet on the A389 and just two miles from the A30.
The nursery is open every day 9am – 5pm (Sundays 10am – 4pm). A regular foodie Farmers’ Market runs on the third Saturday of each month, from 10am – 2pm.
