ASCA NEWS

Attend August Webinars on CMS Surveys, Risk Management ASCA will offer two webinars this month: “CMS Surveys” on Tuesday, August 8, and “Risk Management: Beyond Adverse Incident Reporting” on Tuesday, August 22. Both webinars will be held at 1:00 pm ET. Erin McCoy, RN, ASC program lead and hospital analyst with the Division of Acute Care Services—Survey & Certi- fication Group at the Centers for Medi- care & Medicaid Services (CMS), will lead the first webinar. She will discuss CMS’ ASC survey process, including the role of state agencies and the accred- itation organizations; go over the current infection control worksheet; discuss the most common deficiency citations; and explain how to be prepared for a survey when you are not expecting one. Sandra Jones, CASC, president and

chief executive officer of Ambulatory Strategies Inc. in Dade City, Florida, will present the second webinar. She

will explain how to develop a risk assess- ment program, prioritize activities and integrate with Quality Assessment/ Performance Improvement, infection control, billing, regulatory compliance and accreditation. Visit www.ascassociation.org/webinars

to register and learn more. You can participate in the live events to ask questions in real time or purchase recordings through ASCA’s Learning Center to view at your convenience. Both webinars are included in the 2017 Webinar All-Access Pass, which includes the live events and recordings for all 18 webinars.

Participate in National ASC Week From August 7–11, ASCs around the country will open their doors to their communities by participating in National ASC Week. Since this annual event began in 2003, ASCs have used National ASC Week as an opportunity to promote awareness of the industry by inviting elected officials, the media and members of the community to open houses and facility tours. Hosting policymakers in your

facility creates personal connections that can directly affect ASC-related legislation and regulations.

These

events raise the profile of ASCs, help educate the public about the high- quality care ASCs offer and can secure support for ASCs during key policy-making deliberations. Congress is in recess during the

month of August, so this is a great time to host a facility tour for your members. To get started, simply email or call your congressional member’s local district office and set up a tour. If you would like assistance coordinating a tour for National ASC Week, write Danielle Kaster at dkaster@ascassociation.org. To learn more, visit www.ascassociation.org/ HostaFacilityTour.
