ASCs may want to ask about the terms of the contract and whether there is a benefit to agreeing to a lon- ger term (multiple years) or an early termination fee if your ASC cancels its service with that vendor.


ASCs that want to add their own questions to the end of the OAS CAHPS survey should ask the ven- dors how much, if anything, this cus- tomization of the survey would cost. In addition, if your ASC uses a bill- ing company, that billing company will need to be able to produce the report that goes to the survey vendor each month, outlining patients to survey. Check with your billing company in advance to determine how much this service will cost and how often these fees will be assessed, e.g., whether you pay a one-time implementation fee or monthly fees.

the ASC’s payment?


A No. Right now the program is “Pay for Reporting” only.


Q Will ASCs be competing with all other ASCs?


Will ASCs be ranked?


A It is likely that percentile rank- ings will be used as a basis of


comparison. The exact format of pub- lic reporting is still to be determined.


Public Reporting/Results


Q What data will be available to our facility?


A Participating HOPDs and ASCs will be able to compare their


patient responses against their state and the national average. Results and links to these datasets will be available for download on a CMS web site such as Medicare.gov.
