West Midland Light Orchestra Exuberant music from a 45-piece Big Band with Strings!

This 45 piece orchestra evokes the BBC Light Orchestras of the past - what Musical Director David Etheridge calls "orchestral jazz". Their repertoire of over 250 numbers (Gershwin, Cole Porter, Lerner & Loewe, Rogers & Hammerstein, Richard Carpenter and Ennio Morricone) celebrates music from the "The Great American Songbook" of the1930s–70s. WMLO cover a range of musical idioms featuring both instrumentals and vocal numbers. Accompanied with urbane, witty and informative repartee from Master of Ceremonies, Peter Tomlinson.

Folk in the Foyer: Jimmy Aldridge & Sid Goldsmith

Traditional & new songs in arresting close vocal harmony Jimmy Aldridge & Sid Goldsmith play traditional and original folksong of the British Isles, heavily influenced by the songs and singers of their native East Anglia. Their songs tell stories of hardship, joy, struggle and celebration - close vocal harmonies held together with driving banjo and guitar arrangements. They have recently released their album "Night Hours" - a powerful collection of poignant compositions and re- workings of traditional material.
