The funding is ring-fenced towards the rent of the studio premises and will go a long way to helping keep the volunteer-run charity HRTW on air to provide a service to patients at local hospitals and via its online listen live service for patients at home.

The funding is in addition to more than £4,000 so far raised Diary date

Plans for a brighter future for the Bat & Ball Station

Sevenoaks Town Council has submitted a planning application for a £900,000 refurbishment project for the Bat & Ball Station building. The refurbishment would include public toilets, a cafe and community meeting rooms. An application for funding

for the refurbishment has been made to the Heritage Lottery Fund with an initial decision anticipated imminently. It is also the town council’s intention to provide an access from the platform adjacent to the community centre. This will make the station easier to use for people with mobility needs and those using prams.

Councillor Roderick Hogarth, Chairman of the Town Council’s Community Infrastructure

Committee, said: “I believe this is just one example of the town council’s commitment to the regeneration of the Bat & Ball area. The public have been telling us for some time that they have concerns about the current station facility and there is no reason why these should not be up to a Sevenoaks standard.”
