PULSE Foundation degree in Physical Education
and Physical Activity NOWAVAILABLE at Canterbury Christ Church University
The Foundation degree in Physical Education and Physical Activity qualification is designed for people who are, or would like to be involved with physical education, physical activities and coaching in mainstream and special schools, afterschool clubs, holiday schemes and clubs for children and young persons. It is likely that you will be a teaching assistant or a sports coach delivering PE and sport in an educational setting.
The Foundation degree in Physical Education and Physical Activity will provide you with an excellent opportunity for a work based higher education qualification. On successful completion of the course you will also be eligible to go on to gain a BA Physical Education & Physical Activity degree (validated at CCCU, and
lasts one year). After that, there are additional pathways available to train as a qualified Teacher, or Masters qualifications.
This Foundation Degree is a two year, part-time (one day per week), work-based programme which enables you to gain a qualification whilst continuing to work. The course develops a sound knowledge and understanding base, communication skills, competencies and skill for teachers, coaches and physical activity professionals involved with children and young persons. You will study twelve modules (six each year). Learning takes place in the workplace (10 hours a week) and at university 30 days per academic year, one day per week in line with school term dates.
