2015 Dance Council Scholarship Recipients


Molly Flood Burklyn Ballet Theatre Scholarship


Molly Flood has been dancing for twelve years and is currently a senior company member of Corpus Christi Concert Ballet. In 2014, she and the company attended the Tanzsommer Austria Dance Tour. Molly loved being exposed to different cultures and new performing experiences. This summer, Molly attended Burklyn Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive.


Jimena Flores-Sanchez Dr. Dan Pickard & Rosie Kimple Scholarship


Jimena Flores-Sanchez has been dancing for thirteen years and currently trains at Ballet Academy of Texas, where she is a member of Ballet Ensemble of Texas. In 2012, Jimena graduated early from Coppell High School with a GPA of 4.9667, and has since been training full time at BAT and and Mejia Ballet International to become a professional dancer. She attended Pacific Northwest Ballet School’s Summer Intensive.


Colin Fuller Jerry Bywaters & Calloway Cochran Scholarship


Colin Fuller is a third year student at The Juilliard School. At 16 years old, he joined the Advanced Men’s program at The School of American Ballet. While a sen- ior in high school, Colin was also a National YoungArts Foundation finalist in both Ballet and Modern, and was awarded in Modern. Colin attended the GAGA Summer Intensive with Mark Morris Dance Group.


Ethan Fuller Natalie Krassovska Memorial Ballet Scholarship


Ethan Fuller is 16 years old and is a student in the Advanced Men’s program at The School of American Ballet. Before entering SAB, Ethan studied ballet for four years under Peter Stark, Director of Next Generation Ballet at Patel Conservatory. During his time at Next Generation Ballet, Ethan was both a Featured Artist and New Artist of their pre-professional program. This summer, Ethan attended Boston Ballet’s Summer Dance Program.


Michael Garcia Charles Santos Scholarship


Michael Garcia is a junior at Booker T. Washington HSPVA. He is currently a member of BTWHSPVA’s Repertory Dance Company 1 and a senior performance company member at Dance Industry Performing Arts Center. He has performed works by Dwight Rhoden, Takehiro Ueyama, Sidra Bell, Robert Battle, and Lar Lubovitch. This year, Michael attended Alonzo King LINES Ballet Summer Program.

Maya Gonzalez Denise Gallagher Memorial Scholarship


Maya Gonzalez has been performing musical theatre since she was eight years old. She has studied at Plano Youth Theatre, and most recently was Nina in In The Heights at Junior Players. She is a senior studying dance and musical theatre at Booker T. Washington HSPVA, where she is also vice-president of the musical theatre appreciation club. This summer, Maya attended Perry Mansfield.


Maddison Goodman Amanda Stone Ballet Scholarship


Thirteen year old Maddison Goodman has been danc- ing with New Bern Ballet since kindergarten. In addi- tion to her training at New Bern Ballet, she volunteers as an assistant in preschool through intermediate class- es and rehearsals. Madison attended The School of American Ballet’s summer intensive on a full tuition scholarship and a partial for room and board.


Cherilene Guzman Elaine Harper Memorial Scholarship


Cherilene Guzman began to serious ballet training at age ten at Kennedy Dance Theater in Houston, TX. She is currently a member of the Jete Ballet pre-profession- al company and has guest danced at JCC Houston, the Houston Dance Gala, and the International Ballet Festival of Miami. Over the years, she has danced in KDT’s productions of The Nutcracker, Giselle, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, and numerous contemporary pieces. This summer, Cherilene attended Tulsa Ballet’s intensive.


Riley Hammett Margaret Rylatt Scholarship


Riley has been dancing with Momentum Dance since 2008 and has received numerous awards. She has per- formed with the Drawbacks Youth Tap Ensemble and Rhythmic Souls Youth Residency. Her goal is to one day perform in a musical theatre production. This summer, Riley will put her tap skills to use at the St. Louis Tap Festival.


Courtney Hart Glenda Brown Scholarship


Courtney Hart is sixteen years old, a sophomore at Allen High School, and currently trains at the Academy of Dance Arts in multiple genres. She has aspirations to dance at SMU, Marymount, or other prestigious col- leges. This summer, Courtney attended the Glenda Brown Choreography Project.
