John’s Garden

Making plant dreams come true Photos by Veronica Sliva.

John’s Garden Centre is located in the woods outside of uxbridge. W

hat could be more natural than to have shade plants for sale in the shade of a pine

forest? At John’s Garden in Uxbridge, hostas

and ligularias and trembling epimediums are tucked here, away from the heat and glare of midday but still exposed to the good outdoor light that can never be replicated in any greenhouse. In brighter spots, the sun worshipers

turn their light-seeking faces heaven- ward and drink up all the energy they can. In this way, all the plants, both the shy and the bold, are healthy and happy and perfectly ready to be plunged into the cool soil of a new garden when excited gardeners drop by and adopt them. John’s Garden really is his garden.

Choosing plants can be a relaxing afternoon affair filled with beauty. 16 • Beautiful Gardens 2014
