cVDPV – So far this year there have been 10 cases in Pakistan and 4 in Nigeria.


• All member states that use OPV are requested to introduce at least 1 dose of IPV into routine immunisation programmes by end 2015. Please watch the RI Convention Polio Video.


Refugees from any part of the WHO Eastern Mediterranean group could very easily carry Polio into Europe and thence without border controls into District Ireland. Any one of these refugees could bear a child who could then contract Polio.


The risk in this scenario is


small but possible, it would be an outrage if once again we did suffer a Polio case.


So we must keep up our contributions to help to preven such scenarios from happening.


Polio is still affecting children – please send your club donations to District Treasurer Ivan to help stop the spread.


All Polio donations will be further enhanced by the Bill and Melinda gates Foundation who will match every donated Rotary US$ with an additional 2 US$.
