ROTARY FOUNDATION

Project Daisy – This District preferred Global/District funded project aims to create a therapeutic outside play arena for children and their families to be able to access some respite from the consequences of treatment for children’s cancers.

Information is on the web-site showing details of the plans for the site. With your club donations it may be possible to support this project solely through club donations – but the Foundation Team are awaiting the outcome of donations and will help with any required shortfall through either District Grant or Global Grant funding, much will depend on the funds raised across district.

Please forward your donations/pledges of support before 18th July 2014 ( when the Foundation team meet to consider District Grant applications) through to District Treasurer Ivan. Some

15 clubs to date have pledged their support.

The Rotary Club of Enniskillen have pledged their support for the ‘Infant Milk Bank’ project – this life saving project requires only £35,000.00 of funds to purchase and equip a specialist machine to enable expressed milk to be dried and sent all over Rotary Ireland to the 700 plus very ill and pre-mature babies (per annum) who require human milk to help them to thrive in incubators, and fight off disease across hospitals in Ireland.

This machine would be a first of its kind used in Ireland to benefit children as currently some 1500 litres are collected per annum, with only a very short shelf life, which must currently be frozen and delivered (by voluntary courier service) This project would enable the milk to be freeze dried and if required the milk
