Q’Straint Opens New U.K. Research Center to Speed Product Development Wheelchair securement manufacturer Q’Straint opened a new research center in the United


Kingdom that includes a simulator and high-speed cameras to study the dynamics of how wheelchair passengers are affected during a crash. Te iQ Research of Center of Excellence is located at the company’s Whitstable, East Kent office about 60 miles southeast of London. Q’Straint said the state-of-the-art HYGE dynam- ic crash simulation system used at the facility is one of “a limited number” in the world that studies these dynamic crashes. Q’Straint is also using Phantom high-speed cameras to study the crash dynamics. Te company added that iQ will “push further innovation and enhance the company’s prod-


uct development capabilities” and will increase the speed of new product releases. “Our new crash simulation system allows us to now study, test, certify and bring new


products to market quicker than ever before, thereby improving safety for everyone,” said Bob Joseph, Q’Straint VP of business development.


Safety trainer Tomeka Criswell-Brooks of Houston Independent School District recently won a certificate and trophy for “Best Performance” at the Region 4 ESC Driver Trainer Academy held March 7-10 at Humble ISD in Texas. The academy training drew 18 area trainers, including two others from Houston, Pamela Dotson and Dionndra DeBlaw.
