BOLTING & FASTENINGS

WIND TURBINE FOUNDATIONS

With over 45 years experience of foundation technology and over 5 million anchors produced, the Peikko Group continue to be at the forefront of technical development and innovation in onshore in-situ foundations, off-shore gravity foundations and connections to modular precast towers.

ANCHOR BOLTS Grade 8.8 Grade 10.9

SPECIFIC DESIGN

FatBar is the first post tensioned anchor bolt designed specifically for wind turbine foundations, sustaining larger fatigue loads than traditional grade 10.9 bolts. Bolt threads are cold-rolled with a special threading designed specifically for fatigue loading. Additional preparation increases fatigue resistance.

Post tensioning is with maximum force according to EN 1992-1-1. e.g. Peikko Fatbar 36 fpk

=1070kN -V- M36 grade 10.9 fpk=817kN ➜ 30% capacity increase ASSEMBLY

FatBars are assembled with DIN 6319 washers and DIN 6330 B nuts, both class 10. These washers and nuts have spherical contact area that ensures full contact even if the anchor is tilted, thus eliminating uneven tension and bending of washer.

They are available in lengths up to 6000 mm with an option of localised zinc plasma metallisation to exposed areas (offering HDG comparable corrosion protection but without dangerous effects to high strength steel).

The use of greater capacity anchors leads to smaller and fewer anchors, resulting in smaller bottom flanges of towers, less congestion and overall a more economic design.

INTEGRATED SOLUTION

The system offers an integrated solution of foundation design support and the manufacture and supply of FatBar, top and bottom flanges and punching reinforcement resulting in a foundation using less steel and concrete than traditional designs.

CONSISTING OF… • Anchor cage plates • Bottom plates • Permanent top plates • Templates

Recent UK supplies have included plates up to 110mm section and over 0.7 metres in diameter. Holes can also be cut or drilled to meet all clients specifications and there is an option to factory assemble anchor cages and delivery direct to site.

IN-SITU STUB FOUNDATION Optimises hub height and increases the output of the turbine and incorporates FatBar to minimise wall section – primarily used for heights of 5-20 metres.

GLOBAL PRESENCE

The company operates in 30 countries worldwide and is proud to develop solutions which help customers to achieve a quicker, economic and reliable construction.
