communityspotlight The New Mexico School

of Natural Therapeutics by Jennifer Loli

T

he New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics is one of the oldest alternative healing schools in the nation. Established in 1974, it all started with the idea that stu- dents learning at NMSNT would gain hands-on experience through healing modalities such as massage therapy, polarity, Craniosacral Therapy, reflexology, herbal medicine, flower essences and homeopathy. Today, NMSNT offers over 800 hours of education and

awards students with the title “Natural Therapeutic Spe- cialist,” and offers training to become a licensed massage therapist. Students learn to create bodywork sessions for the individual, not just a standardized massage or treatment plan. This is why NMSNT prides itself on knowing their edu- cational journey is much more than just a massage school. Over 145 hours of the educational training taught at NMSNT occurs in the student clinic on campus. The school books all clients, provides linens, and creates a relaxing atmosphere for the public to experience massages and all the modalities taught at the school for an exceptionally discounted rate. Students can leave the classroom, directly walk to The Natural Remedy Store and Student Clinic, and take what they’ve learned in the classroom to their booked appointment. This gives students a sense of autonomy in a supportive, healing environment and gets them ready to start their own businesses or work in various settings from spas, chiropractic offices, or to further their education. Whatever paths these graduates choose, they come highly sought after. NMSNT attracts students from all over the world. What-

ever the reason they enroll in an NMSNT program, one thing is for certain, student’s lives change. Throughout the course work, students give and receive treatments during their studies and heal their own bodies and lives. This valuable experience teaches students from within their own healing experience thus creating better therapists whose practice is founded on compassion and understanding. Nestled in the beautiful area of Nob Hill, NMSNT is cen-

trally located in Albuquerque and has a beautiful campus with medicinal herbs, a natural remedy store to purchase homeo- pathic remedies, essential oils, massage creams, and other use- ful remedies. The clinic staff and instructors are all graduates of the program and are trained to make health recommendations. Those who register for classes six months in advance or

pay in full on or before the first day of class, receive $500 off tuition. For more information about the program or to sched- ule a tour, call 505-268-6870 or visit nmsnt.org.

Jennifer Loli is the Director of Admissions for NMSNT as well as an instructor of pregnancy massage and student extern- ships. She moved here seven years ago to attend NMSNT and is excited to welcome prospective students.
