Florida's first historic site, Olustee Battlefield Historic State


Park hosts reenactments each February commemorating the largest Civil War battle in the state, the Battle of Olustee. Fought on Feb. 20, 1864, more than 10,000 cavalry, infantry and artillery troops fought a five-hour battle in a forest near Olustee. Signs along the park’s one-mile trail educate hikers about the battle.

Black Heritage Museum

Dedicated to the lives of African Americans in Clay County


during the 1800s, the Black Heritage Museum is located in a historic one-room schoolhouse. Visitors can follow the journey of early pioneering families to the present day through photographs and storytelling. Tours are available by appointment only.


Camp Blanding Museum and Memorial Park

Camp Blanding was established in 1939 as a training post


for the National Guard. During WWII, the facility was leased to the Army and used as a training center, an induction center and a German prisoner of war compound. Camp Blanding is now used for training members of the National Guard and Reserve units. The museum and grounds honor America’s military of all branches.

The museum displays everyday items from Clay County


residents during the 20th century. Items include personal letters, photographs, furniture, clothing, tools and more. The museum is only open on Sundays.


Military Museum of North Florida

Created to honor those who have served in our country's


military, the museum features exhibits, an extensive military reference library and a living history library. World War II and Vietnam memorabilia dominate, but the museum also includes exhibits from the Revolutionary War and the recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
