SPN DEC 2012 MovingFloors

with disabilities and ISB Floors for high diving pools. The patented ISB Floors are the company’s latest innovation and feature a spindle located inside a tubular support leg, As it is electro-mechanically driven outward, the support legs extend.

Some of the main advantages and features of KBE Movable Floors are:

• Comply with European Standard Norm EN 13451-11 and are German TÜV approved

• All metal parts used in the pool tank are made of 316 stainless steel or special bronze

• Surface consists of reinforced polyester sections 494mm wide screwed together with 6mm wide slots. This allows water flow through 1.5% of the surface area of the floor

• The floor is calculated to support a live load of three people per m² and can be used for water disco, aqua aerobics, etc

• The floor is automatically locked using self locked screws in all positions

• The floor can be used to cover the surface area of the pool overnight by moving it 2cm above water level

• Large cleaning flaps allow the use of an automatic pool cleaner under the floor, as the area below the floor is free from cables, etc

• Installations are possible in existing pools (retrofit) and also in free-form pools

A KBE Moving Floors installation requires no additional concrete support structure and a

minimum of site work to the pool tank is required. Installation and adjustments are carried out during one operation, without the need for a return visit to site.

QUALITY AND LONGEVITY FROM THE LIFTING POOL FLOOR CO

The Lifting Pool Floor Co Ltd are one of the UK’s leading specialists in high quality lifting floors for domestic and high end commercial swimming pools. “Dual purpose spaces have a particular appeal to pool owners in areas of very high property values. In central London locations the benefit in property valuation of a well designed dual-purpose pool room easily outweighs the cost of the moving floor,” said General Manager Stuart Thomas.

He adds: “The UK and european markets have lead the world in adopting moving floor technology. Asia and the Americas are far behind us in availability of these to the residential market.”

CHILTERNS THERAPY POOL BENEFITS FROM MOVING FLOOR OPTION

lower patients into the pool. In this setting the moving floor’s role as a lifesaving appliance has particular relevance – if a swimmer encounters difficulties whilst in the water, staff have the ability simply to raise the floor in order to recover them to a dry environment.

Whatever the requirement, their highly flexible lifting pool floor system can be tailored to a project’s needs. From disappearing steps to lights and fountains, they thrive on unusual requirements.

Quality and longevity are their highest priorities. However, you may be pleasantly surprised by the competitive total cost of their movable floor systems, compared both to some other lifting swimming pool floor systems and conventional safety covers.

“We find that reliability and safety are key concerns in the mind of most customers – the moving floor is still relatively novel as a pool feature. Demonstrating high standards of engineering and looking after customers in the aftermarket is key to long term commercial success,” adds Stuart.

Each of the company’s designs are specified and tested to a working load of 150kg/m² in accordance with the requirements of BS EN 13451- 11:2004. The designs do not rely on internal buoyancy to achieve their design load, and are therefore equally safe when the pool is drained. Capable of withstanding a proof load in excess of 750kg/m², the company say their designs offer a degree of structural integrity matched by few of their competitors. spn

Therapy pools are a particularly demanding application for a moving floor. The pool itself is unusually deep, has a very high filtration turnover, and is used almost continuously. Installing a moving floor from The Lifting Pool Floor Co Ltd allowed the staff and patients at this centre almost to avoid totally manual transfer of patients, or the need for a cumbersome, expensive separate pool lift, as the moving floor itself can be used to
