Westchester County Business Journal • ARTSWNEWS county legislators at work supporting the arts

Support from Westchester County’s Board of Legislators enables ArtsWestchester to launch another round of the Challenge for the Arts in 2012. The Challenge serves as an incentive for contributors to make a first-time gift or increase their donation to an eligible arts orga- nization, because ArtsWestchester provides matching funds. Organizations throughout the county benefit from the program, which is help- ing them to raise new dollars.

The Challenge Grant not only incentivized our donors to give generously, but provided the match-

ing funds we needed to reach our goal.

–Howard Meyer Artistic Director, Axial Theatre

This grant helps our donors feel that their money indeed goes further than it would otherwise.

–Rebecca Sayles Development Officer, Copland House

County Legislator Bill Ryan, The Play Group Theatre Executive Director Steven Abusch, Jill Abusch and ArtsWestchester board member Laurence Salley

County Legislator Michael Smith and Axial Theatre Artistic Director Howard Meyer

The funds from this grant enable new programming that takes up the challenge of maintaining diversity and quality... Doubling the impact of the gift is a compelling platform.

–Lisa Reilly Executive Director, Emelin Theatre

The funding expanded our educational classes... it enabled us to initiate the classes in the spring and over the summer.

–Lorraine Laken Director, Hammond Museum and Japanese Strolling Garden

County Legislator Mary Jane Shimsky and Jazz Forum Arts Executive Director Mark Morganelli

County Legislator Judith Meyers and Emelin Theatre Board Presi- dent Mark Ettenger
