LETTER...

‘Hi Sports fans!’ I think that’s fast becoming my new favourite phrase as my friends often now greet me with a similar sarcastic welcome! Ah well, it shows they’re reading the magazine at least, which has to be a good thing. Yes, that is me hiding under my beanie hat donning the colours of my

beloved NFL team, Pittsburgh Steelers, whilst attending a recent re-union meeting in Paignton for my old local American Football buddies, the Torbay Trojans. If you fancy a go at the sport and meeting up with us, your more than welcome as we’re looking at possibly reviving the club! (see pages 24-27). Well, we’re already a good few weeks into 2012 and my thoughts are turning to

a momentus year for sport in the UK. Obviously the headline act will be the London Olympics and for some of us it could be a once in a life time opportunity to capture the great games in our home country. Is London even ready? Not sure I even want to try and answer that one, all I will say is, I hope so! Are you planning to go and spectate or are you even one of our local stars representing? Either way, email me and tell us your story.

Then come June the crazy football media will once again hype the country into a state of ‘can they really do it’

fever in the European Championships. Why do we do it to ourselves? All that said, we at Sport South Devon are more interested in what you and the non professional sports men

and women of the West Country will be up to throughout 2012. So keep us posted... send us stories... send us your pictures of you and your loved ones in action on and off the fi eld! Speaking of pictures, myself and brother Luke popped in to see Russell Martin at Legends Sports museum in

Babbacombe recently (see pages 20-21), all I can say is, if you haven’t been already get yourself up there as soon as possible. An amazing collection of fantastic sporting memorabilia right on our doorstep. Finally, I hope all your 2012 fi tness regimes are still going strong? We have plenty of hints, tips and expert advice in this issue to keep you on track for the year ahead...
