orquay Athletic RFC Under 16’s have made an excellent start to the 2011-2012 season, and currently


placed second in the Fishermans Cup with 6 games left to play, and also in the quarter fi nals of the Devon Cup where they face Exmouth who they have already played and beaten in a friendly last month. The squad of twenty fi ve players have been rotated to ensure that all players have game time, to date they have played sixteen games recording thirteen victories.


During the past three years eight of


the squad have played at District level, and four have represented Devon, Jack Bond, Sam Fellows, Dan Lloyd and Tyler To, in addition James Davies was selected for the Presidents Fifteen last month. Both Jack and Tyler are part of the School of Rugby and currently have progressed to trials for South West of England the next step towards potential international honours. To conclude their fi nal year in Junior Rugby they will be travelling to Holland


to play in a tournament, they are currently looking for sponsorship to help curtail cost and provide kit for the players.

mark the culmination of their exciting ‘Sky Sports Living For Sport’, Literacy project. The project developed


communication and English skills through weekly workshops, fi eld trips to Exeter Chiefs and tasks based around sports journalism, including writing effective match reports, sports commentary and interviewing techniques. Sky Sports and Youth Sports Trust

project said “this is fantastic, it is such an enjoyable project and we have developed our Literacy skills as well!
