for the top spot with less than half a point separating the top three. “The competition was very tough in the final five,” confirmed Isabelle. “We just rode our hearts out for every point we could get. These ladies rode absolutely amazing,” she boasted of her fellow medalists. “But good competition is when it’s close and you have to get down and dirty for every point. It’s very exciting.”
In the freestyle Leibler and Watson 108 performed
brilliantly to the music of ET scoring a 74.00 to win again. “This is the third time we’ve performed [this freestyle] in competition, so we’re going through the ropes, trying to see how it ends up, and how the striding works,” she said after her test. “Today, he just felt like he was right there for me and he had my back. He was ready for everything. I was so excited to have a feeling that my horse was there with me…it was the most amazing feeling.” Second place in the Young Rider individual

Sadie Lahey, 17, Eagle, ID, and her 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding Up To Date P by Nijinski, out of Precious, bred in Holland by Jan Panneraborg, who scored the highest score of the day in either division with a 67.868 to take the gold. “I came last year, and I was the drop score for my team, so I’m very excited to be where I am,” laughed Lahey. “Up to Date just

The pair was also second by less than a percentage point in the individual competition with a 67.079. The 18-year- old Loewen and “Ricky” performed to big band music in their freestyle. “It’s fun. My horse dances to it and I think it suits his personality. I think my test went very, very well,” Loewen said of their freestyle. “I don’t think there’s much I could improve.
