MARYLAND TRIAL LAWYERS ASSOCIATION
FIRE SAFETY MONTH 2005 SMOKE DETECTOR PROJECT
The Maryland Trial Lawyers Association joined forces with the Maryland Safe Kids Coalition and imple- mented a fire safety campaign specifically targeting the high risk population in Baltimore City. MTLA, through donations of its members, raised enough money to purchase over 1300 smoke detectors which will be donated to Safe Kids for year-round distribution. Additionally, on November 18, 2005, members of MTLA joined forces with Baltimore City Firefighters and representatives of Baltimore Safe Kids on a Community Sweep program in Baltimore City. MTLA members assisted the BCFD in the distribution and installation of new detectors in homes where none existed. MTLA members further helped educate the community about the importance of smoke detectors and fire safety. MTLA hopes that, through this program, we can keep Mary- land families safe from the devastating dangers of fire.
