New House-Turned-Office Space in Bearden L
icensed massage therapist Parham Cain, PhD, has opened a new office studio in Bearden and is seeking other pro-
fessionals interested in office space in this newly renovated, house-style setting. The building is located at 4008 Sutherland Avenue, just
west of the Forest Park-Sutherland Avenue intersection and around the corner from Earthfare. It offers four office spaces ranging from 90 to 135 square feet, a shared waiting area, and a spa- cious kitchen. Cain, who owns the property, notes that the area is already home to a number of psychologists, licensed clinical social work- ers, massage therapists, financial advisors and
marketing experts, among other professionals. “I anticipate that the space on Sutherland will attract individuals with established practices of their own,” she says. A geologist and environmental engineer for 25 years, Cain
also has been a licensed massage therapist for nearly 15 years. She maintains practices in both fields, running her environmen- tal consulting business from her rural south Knox County farm. With the renovation of the house-turned-office in Bearden, she has moved her massage practice from her farm to Knoxville. For information, call 865-414-9190 or contact Parham Cain at

Breast Thermography Is Topic of Open Meeting

breast years before a detectable lump might form. “Current research has determined that the key to breast
cancer survival rests upon early detection,” Barakadyn says. “If discovered early, 95-percent cure rates are possible.” A type of medical infrared imaging, breast thermography has the ability to warn women up to 10 years before any other procedure that a cancer may be forming, she says. Unlike many after-the-fact imaging technologies in use, she says, breast thermography has the ability to give a warning signal in advance of invasive tumor growth and offers information that no other procedure can provide. Because it is non-invasive and doesn’t involve radiation or compression of the breast, it is appropriate for any woman, she adds. Barakadyn offers thermography screenings several days a
week by appointment at Knoxville Reflexology Group. The CHEO meeting takes place at 7 p.m. August 1 at the
classrooms of Parkwest Medical Center, 9330 Parkwest Blvd., off Cedar Bluff in West Knoxville. CHEO of Greater Knoxville, a nonprofit organization devoted to promoting holistic and integrative approaches to wellness, includes both a Knoxville and a Loudon/Monroe Community Group. Members and first- time guests to CHEO’s open educational meetings attend free of charge, with a suggested donation of $5 for returning guests. For more information, visit
