of us used lead core with a #1 or #77 Luhr Jenson gang troll, or Christmas tree attractor as they are commonly known, harnessed with a minnow and a #4 treble hook on 3’ of gut line. We ran this setup between 50 and 0 feet of water, into every shoal we could find, until either everything was lost and we had to setup again; or, we were successful. We fished like this until Moe changed our ways by teaching us how to use downriggers, with high resolution fish finders. As they say, the rest is history. 21, 22 & 23 mean anything to you? I know they do to at least three of us… As much as I don’t want to admit it,

it would appear as though our globe- trotting friend, Mr. Patterson, may be the only true “fishing professional”, having caught at least two trout in the 16lb.-plus range. As for me, I am

still waiting to get into the double digits. And, even though Mr. Warren considers himself to be a “pro”, he is truly only a “Prince” having been a runner-up for more years than those years that have his name inscribed on the trophy. Here we are again, another year.

Since 1982, some guys have come and gone, but the core group remains the same, with Brian and me having been going the longest. So gentlemen, here’s to you, and thanks for the memories! As much as I would like to

reminisce and reflect a little more about 30 years of friendship in one of the most beautiful settings on earth, I have to go. It’s June and I just saw that double pump of my fishing rod. That means only one thing. Maybe it will be this time… Brian, Tim, Moe, Ross, Dan … Someone… GET THE NET!
