A simple solo project embarked on in March of this year, the two tracks available on Jack’s Bandcamp page are an indication of the self-sufficient post-metal category he’s going for. Heavily influenced by Justin Broadrick of Godflesh, Jack’s ethereal industrial sparseness is concluded in torrents of strimmer guitar on Agitated, while the Skinny Puppy-eque bleeps and metronomic rhythm of Fading From View shows the more brooding side. It’s little to go on, but if I were a betting man, I’d wager that Chuter will have a few more tricks up his sleeve as the year goes on.

Oxford based but laced with the finest Scottish accent, this charming quartet provide pop nuggets wrapped in noisy guitars. Akin to the likes of We Were Promised Jetpacks, with a smidgen of early Idlewild, their wiry, glistening melodies and raw energy – though slightly muffled on their demo available on Muxtape – poke out at you, especially on This Town Needs Us. Without a doubt a great live band in the making, the scarcity of information on them kinda indicates they’re currently little seedlings about to bloom. Or maybe something less flowery. Anyway, the three demo tracks indicate a knack for interesting melodies and a restrained fury to back them up with. Nice.

The sublime looping guitar refrains are the secret ingredient that make this stripped down Postal Service/ Iwasacubscout-esque a beautiful little prospect. Korie and Marc are the duo behind this charming, self-confessed “folk emo”and their wonderful blog gives you the full rundown of their latest music. Ragged but sweet melodies are thrown, whispered and shouted along with a fine blend of acoustic guitars, harmonica and unexpected trickery. Give it a go if you like your pop honest and brash.
