Last month we looked at the compact pedal sized Boss RC-3 Loop Station, which is part of an all new and revised line up of Loop Station pedals that celebrates the 10th Anniversary of this world beating looper pedal. Looping is the art of creating backing tracks by recording small bits of music and repeating them, building them up by adding sound- on-sound and improvising freely over the top. Looping is now more popular than ever and devices like the Boss RC-30 make it not only easy to create some seriously complex and intricate loops but the RC-30 also features a wealth of tools to make creating loops more fun than ever! The RC-30 is a pretty amazing machine; three hours of looping can be stored in its internal memory, which also has 99 separate memory locations that capture everything from a tiny sample to complete songs. There is also a built-in USB port for transporting your loops onto a computer so that you can build up a complete archive of all of your looping
ideas...no more great loops being lost forever whenever you run out of memory! There are also some superb built-in rhythm tracks to help back up your loops with any type of rhythm you want, Latin, Rock, Pop, Funk, Shuffle...even R&B! The RC-30 features several new features: two track stereo means that two separate tracks of loops can be synchronised, making an even bigger sound. The new ‘Bend Down’ effect sounds really mad but it simulates the sound of a tape machine slowing down when the power is switched off, the loop slows down and drops in pitch before grinding to a halt! The new Step Phaser and Sweep filter effects add an extra dash of atmosphere too, with top quality Boss processing guaranteeing that your loops will always sound tight and precise. The RC-30 is equally at home recording instruments or vocals and the mic input even features phantom power, allowing compatibility with top quality studio condenser mics. The Boss RC-30 is pretty much state of the art as far as looping machines go.
